Millennial New Movers: Shopping Statistics and Online Behavioral Trends. Who are millennials? Born 1981 to 1996 – Current ages 25 to 40. 72.1 Million – U.S. population size. Digital Natives – grew up in the digital age. Reaching millennial new movers early in the moving process is key. 67% purchase items prior to moving, while 47% do so after moving. 54% find service providers before moving, while 42% do so after moving. Research Methods: 46% online research, 43% online reviews, 32% online advertisements, 26% email, 24% direct mail, 27% local online forums. Enticements to try a New Brand: 52% great reviews, 49% better prices than other brands, 43% recommendations from family, 39% discounts/coupons available, 37% brand advertisement. 92% of millennial new movers are willing to try new brands. 89% of millennial new movers are open to trying new service providers. Social Media and Online Engagement: 71% shop online using their mobile phones. 60% have purchased products from social media. 87% use Facebook at least once per week. 63% have used Pinterest to find new products to buy. The New Movers Survey was conducted online by The Harris Poll on behalf of Porch Group Media and Porch Group, between July 7th – 16th, 2021 among 1,006 adults ages 18+ in the US who have moved in the past 12 months and/or are planning to move in the next 3 months. Raw data were statistically weighted where necessary by age by gender, race/ethnicity, region, education, income, size of household, marital status, and employment status to bring them in line with their actual proportions in the population.
